I see songmastering.com as the final step in the recording process, it is a way to give yourself that extra bit of confidence before you post your tune on the net. I see my service as an audio Jiffy Lube™, where you can get your song fine tuned for public consumption. I am an independent artist like you and know how important it can be to have the best sounding recordings possible.

The best way to get an idea of what I mean by songmastering is to listen to a few samples.

Please remember the best sample I can give you will be of your own song. I want to stress that a demo of your mastered song will be provided free of charge. So even if you are just curious there will be no harm in uploading your song.

There can be many different elements that contribute to getting the best out of your song, but the most important element is having an experienced and trained musician give an unbiased assessment of your song and figure out the best way to make it sound even better. Too often an artist can be so close to his own song that he will not notice major or minor audio imperfections. Just some of the elements that will be addressed are:

  • Making your song louder and thicker without compromising quality.
  • Full range equalization to make sure your song is not overly heavy in a particular frequency range.
  • Mono/phase compatibility.
  • Adding excitement or life to a dull mix.
  • Adding a dither when necessary.
  • In certain situations, adding ambiance or effects to enhance the mood of your creation.

Let me just add one little note before we continue: The best mixes will turn out to be the best masters, there is a limit to what a mastering engineer can do to a poorly recorded or mixed tune. There are times when I may ask the artist to re-submit a new mix or a higher quality file.

The best part of my mastering service is the fact that you do not have to pay if you are not satisfied. You will be sent a demo file of your mastered song and if you like what I have done you can purchase the whole song file through pay-pal. That's it !

My intention is to give you an affordable and user friendly mastering service without the pressures of a normal business scheme.

    yours truly, Jim Mason
